September Online Courses 2026

TSSA is currently developing three exciting online courses designed to deepen educators’ understanding and implementation of an inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning.

Harnessing the Power of Inquiry with Traci Willis will continue to support educators in developing inquiry-rich classrooms, exploring practical strategies that nurture curiosity, learner agency, critical thinking, and meaningful engagement.

Using AI to Enhance Inquiry Planning with Dr Sarah Rogans will explore how educators can use artificial intelligence as a powerful thinking partner to support lesson design, create engaging provocations, develop rich questions, and enhance inquiry-based learning experiences.

Thinking Maps: A Visual Language for Learning with Dr Sonja Vandeleur will introduce educators to the eight Thinking Maps, each linked to a fundamental cognitive process such as describing, comparing and contrasting, classifying, sequencing, and identifying cause and effect. These powerful visual tools support learners in organising their thinking, developing metacognition, and becoming increasingly independent and self-directed learners.

Together, these three courses provide educators with practical strategies and tools to cultivate classrooms where curiosity, thinking, and learner agency thrive.

Thinking Routines Workshop

Dates (Beginning of October) and Venue TBC

Join Camilla Antonie (St Stithians College) and Sarah Rogans (St David’s Marist Inanda) for a practical 6-hour workshop exploring the power of Thinking Routines to make student thinking visible, deepen understanding, and encourage meaningful classroom dialogue.

Camilla brings a wealth of experience, having embedded Thinking Routines into her classroom practice over many years. Sarah offers the perspective of a teacher who is newer to the approach, sharing her own journey of implementation, the challenges and discoveries along the way, and how she uses AI as a powerful thought partner to support the planning of rich, thinking-centred learning experiences.

This workshop will provide educators with both the expertise of an experienced practitioner and the fresh insights of a teacher currently navigating the process of integrating Thinking Routines into everyday teaching.
