TYPES OF INQUIRY
Click here to view Trevor MacKenzie’s slides on the Types of Inquiry. These slides are a valuable resource for understanding the different models of inquiry—ranging from structured to free inquiry—and how each can be used depending on where your learners are in their journey. Whether you're just beginning to implement inquiry or looking to deepen student agency over time, this resource offers practical guidance for scaffolding inquiry in developmentally appropriate and meaningful ways.

QUESTION ROUTINES
Trevor MacKenzie’s Question Routines are a powerful resource for any inquiry-based classroom. Designed to spark curiosity, promote collaboration, and encourage the sharing of ideas, these routines can truly shift the energy and engagement in your learning space. An example of a routine is the Question Pencil which supports students in crafting more focused and meaningful questions. Visit the webpage to download detailed guides for each routine and see them in action. For deeper insight, we highly recommend Trevor’s latest book, Inquiry Mindset: Questions Edition, a rich resource that unpacks how these routines help students (and teachers) sort, organise, and refine their questions to shape purposeful learning experiences.
